The 2013 IBSF World Snooker Championship will be held in Riga, the capital city of Latvia. The same as it was in previous years, threee events are scheduled in Men, Women and Masters (over 40) category.
This is a big pleasure for Europe to host IBSF World Snooker Championship year-by-year. Wonderful tournament, organised in 2012 by Bulgarian Snooker Federation with cooperation with EBSA, current World Champions are: Muhammad Asif in Men (Pakistan), after beating Gary Wilson (England) in breathtaking final game, Wendy Jans in Ladies (Belgium), who beat Ng On Yee (Hong Kong) and in Masters: Darren Morgan (Wales), who won a final game against Glen Wilkinson (Australia). Muhammad Asif became first World Champion from Pakistan since 1994 and first professional player ever from this country.
The Championship will start on 18th November and will be played till 30th November. Latvian players have never played successfully in professional or even pro-am events. The strongest link of Latvian snooker is ladies team, with Tatjana Vasiljeva and Inese Lukashevska as a biggest stars.
During 2012 European Snooker Championship, also held in Latvia, Tatjana Vasiljeva scored her biggest career win and became European Ladies Snooker Champion after great final against Wendy Jans, living legend of European snooker. In 2009 and 2011 Latvians were also runners-up in Ladies European Championship.
